Avenues Silicon Valley is a new K-12 campus in San Jose, California. The project features play areas, plazas, and The Grove, a series of shady planted spaces that serve as the Iconic heart of the school’s social and outdoor educational program. The Portal, a four-store white geometrical awning, connects two existing buildings and creates a large outdoor room for school gatherings.

The campus pedestrian walkways act as the central spine, connecting all buildings and outdoor programmed spaces on site.  Every campus tour begins with a stroll through its gardens and outdoor rooms under the shade of trees and immersed in a diversity of plantings. Visitors return along the central plaza where the edges of The Grove are alive with seating, social activity and campus life. The urban edge of the site engages with street life and includes native plantings and bioswales for stormwater treatment.
