Bionic with West8 won an international design competition to develop the master plan and implementation strategy for the public realm of the historic Fort Mason. Bionic is leading the design of the waterfront and phased public realm. The design preserves Fort Mason’s historic legacy while creating an active and ever changing waterfront destination for arts, culture, and public access to the waterfront.
Public realm improvements capitalize on existing historic elements.
Public seating and waterside improvements bring people to the water’s edge and showcase panoramic views of the shore and Bay.
Renovations and additions are carefully considered and envisioned to preserve the distinct character while enlivening the public space as a unique urban destination.
