The India Basin new compact urban village hosts a vibrant public realm and streetscape, as well as residential, commercial, and institutional uses, and a complete neighborhood of services and amenities. The public realm is designed to prioritize the pedestrian and multi-modal transportation. A shared public way is designed for performance  – stormwater treatment, gathering spaces, residential and emergency vehicle access. And a Public Market and plaza serves as a major destination and gathering place for India Basin with flexible pavilions designed to be modular and evolve over time.

The grade separated Class I Bikeway duals as a fire lane to enable narrower streets by use of a 2″ curb and planted divider strip.

Streets are designed to prioritize the pedestrian.

Tight tolerances and variations in surfacing enable a pedestrian-oriented shared public way designed for performance, varied experience, an ehanced public realm, stormwater management, and legible identity for the project.
