The LinkedIn Maude Campus modernized a suburban plaza for a global technology company. The project was designed to not only maximize outdoor dining areas and ease of circulation between buildings, but also to host native ecologies. To negotiate numerous subsurface and infrastructure constraints, the design incorporates a large earthwork constructed of structural foam and native plants. The form screens the parking lot and creates a wildflower backdrop for the dining areas. Soil profiles and native seed mixes were specifically designed to transform the dedicated fire lane into a meadow for pollinator species.
The soil profile and seed mix for a dedicated fire lane was specifically designed to maximize habitat potential and attract birds and pollinator species.
Native grassland species and wildflowers create seasonal dynamics, require fewer resource inputs, and contribute to a larger urban ecology mosaic.
The paving pattern was designed for passive wayfinding and to designate circulation routes, travel speeds, and seating areas.
